1. Introduction
Readable Recipes respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. This policy outlines our approach to copyright matters and our procedure for responding to notices of alleged copyright infringement.
2. Our Content Transformation Approach
Readable Recipes provides a service that transforms publicly available recipe content into a more readable format. We believe this constitutes fair use under United States copyright law for the following reasons:
- We transform the presentation of the content for improved readability, which is transformative in nature
- We do not reproduce unnecessary elements of the original work such as personal stories or advertisements
- We focus only on the functional aspects of recipes (ingredients and instructions)
- We always attribute the original source
- Our service does not diminish the market for the original works and may enhance it by improving user experience
3. Copyright Infringement Notification
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please submit a written notification ("DMCA Notice") to our designated copyright agent. Your DMCA Notice must include:
- An electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright interest
- A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed
- A description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located on our service, with enough detail that we can find it
- Your address, telephone number, and email address
- A statement by you that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement by you, made under penalty of perjury, that the above information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf
4. DMCA Counter-Notification
If you believe that your content was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to our designated copyright agent. Your counter-notification must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the content that has been removed or to which access has been disabled and the location at which the content appeared before it was removed or disabled
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the content was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located, or if your address is outside of the United States, for any judicial district in which our company is located
- A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who provided notification of the alleged infringement
5. Repeat Infringers
It is our policy to terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe or are repeatedly charged with infringing the copyrights or other intellectual property rights of others.
